A hierarchical multi-scale state-dependent Markov jump process formulation for mean-field limits of stochastic structural dynamical networks” angefertigt.
English Version
Prasannavathan Duraisamy Kannan completed his thesis for the Master’s in Finance program at the University of Ulm as an external student at the Bernstein Center Freiburg. He has now been selected by his university as the recipient of the award for the best thesis for the 2025/2026 academic year. Structural plasticity in networks as a stochastic process The structure of a network is crucial to its function. This applies equally to neural networks in the brain, to technical circuits in a microprocessor, or to a network of financial relationships between banks and other institutions. However, such interaction structures can change over time and adapt to new requirements. The mathematics of graphs and networks that constantly reallocate their available resources and change their structure is, however, not yet very well developed.
Mr. Prasannavathan Duraisamy Kannan recently completed his studies in financial mathematics at the University of Ulm and, under the supervision of Stefan Rotter at the Bernstein Center Freiburg, wrote a master’s thesis titled “A hierarchical multi-scale state-dependent Markov jump process formulation for mean-field limits of stochastic structural dynamical networks.” The aim of the thesis was to take the first steps toward a mathematical description of rewiring processes in networks. In his work, he employed methods from the fields of “combinatorics” and “stochastic processes.” The Faculty of Mathematics and Economics has now honored Mr. Prasannavathan Duraisamy Kannan’s academic achievements with an award, along with the opportunity to present key findings and notable aspects of his master’s thesis to a wider audience in an engaging manner
