Computational Statistics and Machine Learning applied to Handwriting Synthesis

University College London offers a relatively new course on Computational Statistics and Machine Learning, combining the fields of Statistics and Computer Science to classify and find patterns in large sets of data. The first part of the talk will focus on the setup of the one-year course and the techniques taught. The second part revolves around my Masters thesis project, synthesizing handwriting through a factorial Hidden Markov Model.
