Moritz Helias at the Sloan-Swartz meeting 2008 in Princeton

Helias_2008.jpgIn 2008 a fellowship by the Sloan-Swartz foundation offered me the opportunity to participate in the annual meeting of the Sloan-Swartz centers for Theoretical Neurobiology held at Princeton University. Visiting the venue of the meeting, the campus of this renowned university in itself was a great experience.

It was exciting to give my oral presentation in front of so many well known scientists in the field, among them Eve Marder, Haim Sompolinsky, Larry Abbott, Terry Sejnowski, XJ Wang, Ken Miller and Bill Bialek. After my talk I had the chance to talk to Haim Sompolinsky in more detail and I enjoyed the discussion with him a lot. Also I got very  valuable feedback from Paul Miller who had been working on long time stability of synaptic plasticity, a topic closely related to the work I presented.

All in all, I have a vivid recollection of the meeting and would be happy to join another of these occasions in future.
