The Chialvo-Bak neural networks (D. Chialvo and P. Bak, 1999) feature learning, memory and adaptation through simple stochastic dynamics based on synaptic depression and "Winner-Take-All" (WTA) rules. In the simple three layer feed-forward topology, a Markov Chain representation was developed to characterize its dynamical properties and estimate the learning time distribution. This enables to study the "power law"-like tail of the learning time distribution (J.R. Wakeling, 2003) that is thought to underlie an order-disorder transition in the model.
The talk is open to the public. Guests are cordially invited!
